Forever Chasing the Light: Oil Paintings by Susan Kounanis
My name is Susan Kounanis and I am an artist specializing in oil paints. I have always had a love and deep appreciation for art. I am fascinated by light and how it can enhance its subject. As I approach a setup for my painting, my goal is to follow the light to guide the viewer’s eye throughout the scene. I strive to capture the duality of bold, rich color in the lights with soft, quiet darks within the shadows.
I am inspired by nature and have an appreciation for antiques, and am known for pairing fresh flowers or fruit with vintage vases or glass as subjects for my still life paintings. Although most of my works are still lifes, I like to take on challenges such as landscapes, figures, and pet portraits. Honestly, I just paint what makes me happy and touches my heart!
